YEAR IN REVIEW
The 2013-14 season saw great success for the athletes of the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding
and U.S. Freeskiing. Six American athletes were named World Cup champions in their respective
disciplines and athletes made a total of 84 World Cup podiums. This season also brought the XXII
Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing
athletes brought home a total of 17 medals, including a record eight gold. The disciplines of
slopestyle skiing, halfpipe skiing and slopestyle snowboarding made their Olympic debuts. U.S.
athletes brought home medals for each of these new events, including a mens slopestyle skiing
sweep, which was the third U.S. podium sweep in history. Women’s ski jumping also made its
Olympic debut, with American Sarah Hendrickson being the first woman to jump. With the
2014 Olympic Winter Games behind them, these athletes are now looking ahead to World
Championships and a repeated Best in the World performance in PyeongChang.
