The eyes of the world will be on Vail/Beaver Creek
this February 2-15 as the FIS Alpine World Ski
Championships come back to the U.S. for the first
time since 1999. America will be treated to a global showcase in Vail/Beaver Creek, with live coverage of every event plus a live post-race show each
day airing on NBC, NBCSN and Universal Sports
Network.
The 2015 World Championships establishes an
opportunity for U.S. Ski Team stars such as Bode
Miller, Ted Ligety, Julia Mancuso and Andrew
Weibrecht, along with Vail’s hometown heroes
Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin. They’ll be
looking to continue the tradition of being Best in
the World! The U.S. Ski Team is training hard and
preparing to be at their best for the first World
Championships in America’s backyard in 16 years.
Vail/Beaver Creek 2015 will be an event that leaves
its mark long after the two weeks of competition
with more than 500 athletes from 70 nations. A
new women’s speed course, free entrance for
spectators, nightly entertainment and the
unprecedented live TV coverage are just some of
the highlights.
The USSA partnered with the Vail Valley Foundation to win the bid in 2010 to host the 2015 World
Championships. The event was last held in Vail/
Beaver Creek in 1989 and 1999. Tamara
McKinney’s combined gold was a highlight of the
1989 Worlds.
